welcome to New York Tango

Dear Friends,

What is the true meaning of Dance Argentine Tango and how it connects with Michael Foster?

Michael: "The art of the Argentine Tango should be an inspiration to all, Once discovered in the correct way it can be used as a form of structural direction in the very way you communicate your personality among friends and enemies. Be it in the milongas of Argentine Tangos or in general - among a community of dancers."

Here is a little of my NYC Tango!
How I started dancing the tango? :) Who were the persons first to influence my continued dancing. What is my tango “bridge to terabithia”. What is T&B.

The Story: Dancing Tango?

Almost 11-Years ago I sought to find out a place for recreation in order to facilitate emotions exclusively.
What does this mean?
Tango Recreation - Events normally design for adult social interaction - often includes a medley of jokes, drinks, dance and an abundance of fun.
Facilitate Emotions? This could mean different things for different people. for me I found that the tango dance milongas can be a place where one can remain in control of his/her emotions. Its the only adult social event I know exist where you can all at once maintain or avoid those passionate emotions being exhibited toward you. It's a great social event where you do not have to feel overwhelmed by pair pressure etc.

I thought I've always known the Tango, Yet! I simply could not place a name to the dance which I felt compelled to experience long before I took the embrace of my first partner.

Emotions can be sensuous and often... lactose! All at the same time (Lactose whereas in-that-its in-A-milky format. This is sometimes unbearable. Though its good - M-I-L-K is mostly found to be good for everyone - as much as how great this is, sometimes you feel like you've just had enough of it.

“Lactose” (Milk or Milky) In simple, you don’t always want to have to deal with it - sort-of-like a partner's emotions - passions in the tango milonga etc., To depend on products containing a base of what is lactose? And it’s side effects? Some of the results can certainly paralyzed your life on a daily basis. “It’s tough to live a life without milk” but "It's better to live a life where you can control your desires for (Passions) Milk and the milky-based products.

Hey! this is my Tango History page...ok?

From an early age I discovered “I hate to loose”(Who wants spoiled milk anyway!) and gambling was never going to impress me. So at the tango milongas (guys/gals) be careful. Because often you can encounter or discover that the emotions/passions of your latest dance partner is now tasting as milk gone bad. Interesting enough during the tango social night it is kind-of-difficult to get out of such a rot. It takes a lot of leaning - patience Here is a theory: Milongueros y Milongueras - Per Milonga - if a crowed in the regular at the milonga is 15 to 30 couples? Mostly followers at times? Chances are you can well run into spoil emotions un-ending. Choose your partner carefully, bring your own partner if you can. You don't have to dance, a good milonguero y milonguera do not always have to dance. In fact its sometimes best not to dance. Which is better than trying to make the best of an obviously bad situation.

Besides! I am the Lover...All Else Becomes the Lovee! Therefore protecting my emotions (Keeping it well chilled) will always be my #1priority. Placing me at risk has always been my earnest concern.
Al of my intended relationships were by Choice - not by Chance. :) My emotions (Passions) have always been structured - well - put-in-its-place. Hence my intended relationships on and off the dance floor was carefully calculated and naturally it sometimes fail; the partnership can often end with the results of a broken heart. "Unfortunately not my heart" All of my emotions were left intact! Like coming out of a horrible accident un-scathed. Not a Scratch! Ha!, so cool. One thing I've learnt from each relationship, if you live it honestly, when you leave it or it's grossed it's time, you take all the good you believe you have learnt and experience and mature in it, like good wine. Because it is the only way to prepare for the next best relationship. This felt better than what must have been my x-partner’s broken-heartedness. Un-preparedness on their path - Regardless of what one may say? "Who Needs a Broken Heart"., It worked for me for another 10 years and it is working for me today… I do not have any regrets – not yet! I am also a better dancer/lover today than yesterday. Not planning on breaking my own heart ever.

Tango and the “Dance-Tango” has help me to consistently implement these strategies of protection towards sensuous emotions. With some patients one can discover some unique realities of why many people are less emotional than others.

This form of intellect is by understanding the emotions as emitted or transferred into the icons of your favorite  smiley or sadly emicon faces. Developing the ability to control and direct the emotions appropriately on and off the dance floor is important to each and every Tango Dancer.

My first Tango Dance started with “Viviana Para” of Argentina accompanied with “Melina Braufman”, an experience which has lasted and still exist today.

A fellow by the name of Danny Carpi (DanceTango.com) whom I double the "Tango Gentleman" was also influential in persuading me that I should come by his milonga for a chance to meet some new singles, added that it was a great atmosphere where there were mostly singles meeting for dancing.

I was occasionally dancing at exclusive private groups getting together at Hotels and high-end restaurants, clubs and professional network events by-weekly. (Perhaps still happening at places like the “Tavern on the Green and places of the likes).

After chatting with Danny, I promise to visit the following week, which I cancelled and actually called to apologize. Naturally it was ok! And he gave me a second chance to come the following week.

Danny! Who is from Argentina, arguable I’ve dubbed the “Tango Gentleman” it was all he appeared to be back then.  where is Danny now?

I cautiously entered in on his complimentary free guest entry and stood hidden behind almost 30-people standing in a circle while, who it was introduce themselves as instructors from Argentina. I listen and was amazed, lead alone totally impressed that I’ve Known this thing they called “Tango” for quite a while but dear not could I have place the thing “This Dance” by name. Nonetheless! I muttered to myself while hiding behind everyone else. Gosh! This is what they called The Tango! I’ve earned this understanding because I’ve always associated myself with the concept of “Form & Expression "in the art of dance. While at this same time I was merely taming myself from a subtitle approach to male runway modeling – I did however had the best modeling instructor, Greek born, but grew up in Italy and worked for the best including the agency I trained with back then “New York New York Modeling”, owned by Greeks, (Now Q-Models of LA). I took the training well and today much of my body language is as a result of the training I've had.

The introduction did not last too long and for some on-noted reason an extreme skinny bi slender lady yelled to my attention and cautiously ask for my participation. I was “SHOCKED” with anticipation and fidgeted with a little fear earned for the exception that might lay ahead. This was “Viviana Para”…

“NOW” THIS IS HOW YOU TAKE THE EMBRASSED, she Yelled, while grasping me tightly. At which I felt immediately like a broken dole or a fish pretending to be dead so you can let him back into the water. Before I knew it she grappled my right hand and tucked it snuggly underneath her left arm cautioning that I maintain that grip firmly all the way underneath her right arm and right shoulder. Trusting that I would reciprocate to what was obviously knew to me, even my culture and nature now suddenly includes embracing a complete stranger, particularly a woman? (No! I am not Gay -- Not Yet!) Being a sports person it was normal to hug and chest-bump guys during or after a soccer game. I supposed it must have been funny how I looked or reacted when she (Viviana) screamed – “hold me like this”, as my right hand fell away from (what I thought was holding a little too close) close-embrace she pulled it back right under her left elbow pressed against my fingers and upper right under-arm, while she gripped my left hand, her hands clasps unto my fingers as she shouted so everyone else can hear. “Now you must hold me like this” a slight let loose and “POW” Grasped my hand again. She shouted to all who could hear... “Now This is how the man takes the embrace”. OK! she shouted. Luckily my heart was still situated on my left side, because I am sure she would have notice an unusual beet-box motion.

So that is how I started the Tango Dancing. Later on that night Melina invited me to their table and introduce me to her then bi-friend and like that we all became cool pals. I don't do drugs but my first High was on the kava-kava courtesy Danny Carpi's...The girl I thought was the sweetest person in the world and the one I hope Danny would never loose.

Melina is one of the best Tango dancers in the world today and my basic Tango Technique accompanied with the methods I adapted from techniques associated with run-way style modeling is owed in-part and due to Melina's early guidance.

The term: Who influence me to continue dance tango?

It is more like “What” influence me to pursue tango dancing?

Well there are a number of things but most importantly my desire to continue was based on an already admitted prominent factor in my life…engaging in a form of emotional recreation, that is discrete, one that would facilitate my earnest sensuality without a risk of a broken heartedness.

I have since broadened that term quite a bit to “having fun without the risk of a bear bottle being thrown at you” or “being able to dance without being pressured to drink or get drunken”. Tango club dancing is the only dancing event I know of where you can exhaust yourself enough as any person wasted at the roughest nightclub joint.

When the song is done the emotions are over, respectfully..."What Happens on the Dance Floor, Stays on the Dance Floor" though this can be an arguable statement for some people. I think it’s true because of what I’ll say in the following paragraphs.

That being said:

I will now describe - What is my tango “bridge to terabithia”.

The names: Paul Pellicoro, Viviana Para, Melina Braufman, Cecilia Cia, Carlos (From Reportango) and his X (especially his X sweetheart Pamela), Sandra (Host at Lafayette Grill), Giovanna (Italy), Peter Stefanic (Hungary), Johanna (Germany), Nicolette (Georgia), Paula (Geologist who always teased that she knew me when I could not move a feet effectively) and today (meaning now and within the best of the last few years) the likeness of most notably “Carlos Gavito”, Gayatri, Rick Castro, Paula (Young Paula), Corina (Triangulo), Armando, Richard Lipkin, Karina’s first boyfriend/partner (who is now gay), Jak, and a few other Argentines known to have visited New York City as instructors or performers. These ( those whom I might have missed) are all of the above and perhaps a few others are reasons in part fruitful to my transfer from a realm of simply dancer/tango-artist to an entrepreneur of “Art & Dance Tango ” enough to influence the world without ending.

It was not easy “This transition” it was a chance to risk everything sensuous which I first protected. I did it lastly at my own peril with the hopes that what I may discover will be the truth of “Art & Dance Tango”, not only Tango but Art in all types of dance. And that’s extra.

That was the Tango bridge. (Getting over it was no easy task)

Now my Tango Tarabithia: In short- Tango Tarabithia to me means a discovery of oneself beyond his own emotions or the emotions (inductive) to every milonguero. Sorry guys, if you don't know this, you're sure to be in some kind f trouble early now or soon in future.

There is one thing through the history of all milongueros existence – the desire to exhume and expel his sensuality to degrees that can almost assure eventual self destruction. For example: Marco, Pepito and others of older tango times and of late “Sadly” Gavito (RIP) Omar Vega (who at late was beginning to live the difference). Worrisome concerns are in the pattern for persuasion; Milongueros like Gustavo, Admando, local-Ron Kayat, and others too many to mention…(And that’s not my reverence anyways). My point is: I have sacrificed a lot of my own sincere emotions in order to acquire these knowledge, in turn I’ve been battered, buttered, disputed, even innocently corrupted because an admittance to something that seams Obvious was nothing but a substitution, a correlated reaction to an instantaneous emotion caught-on passionately in a single few sets of dance and dancing closely together with someone else. "A Woman" It’s a mystery too presumptuous in all its meaning but yet the denial is too challenging for the heart that is in want - relentless for the bosoms touch, that is filled with greed from a dying hunger for cohesiveness. splendor and wicked moods of physical pleasure carefully anticipated the illusion of which is too real to accept as NOT. Which Milonguero can discover these and omit himself from feasting? Probably none! I do not profess completeness in this understanding; I am simply saying I’ve had a glance! Some simplicity is dear to my understanding. And that's the truth. Imagine the reality of an illusion so madly consumed that a woman is convince that she recently had sex with you only a few moments ago and could so do it once again.

 That’s my Tango Tarabithia.

What is T&B

Now back to today’s reality Yea? T&B stands for “Technique & Balance™”

I will begin by stating: Technique & Balance-(TB1), also stands for “Tango Bunny” -(TB2) and “Tango Bar” -(TB3).

TB1- Is primarily the title of a dance program course which I’ve develop over the past 11-years using the theories of “Form & Expression” or “Body Language”.  The “Form”  (Technique) comes from a combination of my experience as a X-Male runway model and after learning to dance, “Argentine Tango”.

The results was- Obtaining an ability and producing a program to help individuals express themselves (As elegant, casual or professional while dancing) through distinct ways of stepping or walking.
The “Balance” came from a contra-body technique used in dancing the basic steps of Argentine Tango, (Contra-Body). These two put together created the birth of “Technique & Balance™” a 7-hour program course design to make anyone feel and look beautiful when simply walking on the streets or stepping onto an occasional dance floor.
No matter who you are, you will learn the full semantics of “Body Language” Form and Expressions. It is important for everyone to express themselves. Expression therefore is a feeling – you don’t have to be skinny like a super model to feel sexy. My program have so far encourage on one occasion a drop in from –The “Daughter of Ralph Lauren” and continued lessons among a few students that includes some high profile clientele.

The program is not perfected as yet but it is certain to build momentum enough to be “Possibly the next big thing”… “Katie Curic” Thinks so! With smiles after browsing my NYTB brochure in person.

Others include:

Renowned Publicist “Anne Dozzier” believes this also and has officially pledge her professional outfit in association with some future T&B brand development.

Alicia Mughetti and J* Kadashian** (Both esthetic designers and vivacious influence in the clothing industry have personally corralled their support and add positive influence to my instructional methodologies in my professional dance performance and presentations. Thank you ladies?

TB2- Stands for the “Tango Bunny” which is a history best descriptive when heard from an alternate source. However the Tango Bunny is better related as a brand of sort. The purpose of  “The softer Touch” is inadvertently a special line of Tango Under garments. (Yes there is a dark side or private side to each of your tango sensuality – but this is strictly for commercial reasons) .

TB3- Stands for “Tango Bar” or mostly called NYTB- (New York Tango Bar). Tango Bar was taken from the Theme set in the 1935 movie staring one of the greatest Argentine Tango Singer, “Carlos Gardel”.
It is the medium I used for “Brand” purposes only. I hope to extend TANGO BAR throughout my network of dancers in man y bars, restaurants and recreational facilities local and abroad.

In early 2000-2001 I began producing the first “Tango Bar” Later on I produced A- Tango-Con-Swing Milonga on a Hotel Roof-Top In Midtown (32-ST) Manhattan. That same year in October after 9/11 2001,the event registered it presence on the Front page of the Sunday New York Times “Metro Section” Titled “A Roof-Top above it all. The story influence New Yorkers to head to their roof-tops in an effort to reduce the agony of “Ground Zero”.

Following this I’ve had many interviews and production opportunities from much media alternatives interested in dance and Tango in New York City.

Throughout the last 8-years I remained bent on producing harmless, fulfilling events to the New York Tango community and have done so in many great locations.

Now formally known as Foster's T&B Dance Network all events continue to capture an elite audience.

Throughout these great years of Tango Production me and my team have had our ups and downs along with the my competitors whom I love much because if it won't for those venomous challenges I would not be this Chrystal or nearly as shiny today. This type of competition however has come to be quite natural since the “Politics” of Tango and free dance events in New York City have sprawled across the piers at the South Street Seaport. We'll leave it there for now. Today I remain devoted to producing the safest, highest quality events, all with a dedication to brand awareness, style, community, Art and Dance cultural appreciations.

The introduction of  “Art & Tango” at the South Street Seaport piers as a fully covered and professionally organized dance festival event dedicated to “Show & Tell” is still an opportunity available to benefit everything that we believe outdoor dancing should be all about.

Our members agree: “Art & Dance” belongs together, after all when you dance; you give a true expression of an existing impression located inside of you and one that is based on the natural art that is from within yourself.
